A snowmobile adventure in Canada, the adventure of a lifetime!

An expedition to Nunavik and Labrador, the adventure of a lifetime!

A recurring project:
Every year we schedule an expedition departing from Labrador City towards the Inuit villages on the Labrador coast, Nunatsiavut, then continuing around the peninsula through the most northern part of Québec: Nunavik, or Nouveau-Québec.

For adventurers at heart:

This adventure is especially intended for fit participants because, even though the itinerary presents no particular technical difficulty, the remoteness of the regions crossed and the hostile nature of the surroundings demand a great deal of endurance. Previous snowmobile experience is generally a prerequisite, but we have exceptionally accepted participants with no snowmobile experience but an unmistakable adventurer’s résumé!… Participants are not tourists on this kind of committed expedition, but true teammates, each with a role to play in the success of the Adventure. Ruggedness is the adventurer’s main quality: while some stops are made at inns, half of the nights are spent in makeshift camps that we improve on arrival. In fact, this part of the experience remains among the best memories of the Adventure, where mutual help, cohesion and the group’s efficiency leave a lasting impression.

Well-oiled logistics and exceptional supervision:

This type of expedition requires well-oiled logistics and flawless supervision. We have to pre-position fuel by ski plane, bring 1 sled for every 2 people with spare parts, survival equipment, redundant communication systems, and maintain a ratio of 2 guides for 4 teammates. These guides are level IV off-trail guides and instructors who know this part of the globe perfectly, having already crossed it on expeditions or in races; some are multiple winners of the legendary Raid Harricana and are part of our team of guides.

Varied biotopes in some of the most inhospitable regions on the planet:

The route, 95% off-trail (there are no trails anyway), mainly follows lakes, rivers and sea ice, but also large stretches of bare Arctic tundra and boreal taiga where a few black spruces, 5 to 10 metres apart, dot the horizon. The Adventure also crosses the southern Torngat Mountains through Kuururjuaq National Park, where vertical mountains plunge straight into the Atlantic Ocean.

Authentic encounters:

The route follows the migration paths of the George River caribou herds, and even though the herd has declined sharply in recent years, it is not unusual to come across them. We also travel through polar bear territory in the most northern part of the expedition. Stops in two Inuit villages (Nain in Labrador and Kangiqsualujjuaq in Nunavik) will let you connect with the authentic Inuit population, and you will be won over by the humility and hospitality these remote communities show during your visit.

And guaranteed surprises…
Humans are not in charge in these regions, where the weather always has the last word. Unpredictable sea ice and river conditions and mechanical hazards will be part of the landscape… Flexibility and adaptability are your guides’ watchwords for carrying the project through. What is certain is that the unexpected will spice up the Adventure and help us create that human chemistry within the expedition that proves to us every year that ADVENTURE STILL EXISTS
