What landscapes? Boreal forest, taiga, urban snowmobiling?
Back from our first snowmobile trips in Canada, our customers are sometimes surprised by the fact that they crossed many fir trees and missed perspective, others lacked urbanized landscape and contact with the warm population of Quebec, etc … It is important to state what you want to see as a landscape before you sign up for an all inclusive snowmobile package in Canada.
It is possible during a snowmobile trip in Quebec, to have to cross villages and sometimes dense cities with frequent crossings of roads, railways and transit in industrialized zones. This is also Quebec, if you do not want to be confronted with this reality of Canada, say so and we will suggest routes avoiding these spaces.
In the south of the 50th parallel (on average) we are in Quebec in the boreal forest, with a few rare exceptions. This means that the snowmobile trails traveled through dense forests, deforested by machines, fires, lakes and rivers. This is where we find 95% of the snowmobile trails maintained and almost all snowmobile tours.
To find subalpines-like areas with trees between 4 and 20 meters apart and grasslands, you have to go to the Taiga in the Nordic Zone beyond the 50th parallel.
The Taiga
This region where the “Middle North” begins is already very far from conventional circuits where 99% of snowmobile tours circulate.
Finally, to cross virgin landscapes as far as the eye can see, a place of migration for caribou, musk oxen and strewn with erratic rocks illuminated by aurora borealis you have to go to the Tundra situated on the average north of the 53rd parallel. This is where the true Great North begins, and there are never any tourists, only a few travelers and some adventurers that we have guided in these hostile but wonderful regions.

The fact of wanting to ride a snowmobile necessarily involves some personal involvement and a certain degree of exit from one’s comfort zone.
